Is your bathroom boring, plain or just plain utilitarian? This part of your home is not just functional but has a character too. The master bathroom, in particular, should be open and inviting. Creating a spa kind of experience is a popular trend in redesigns. But, if you can't go all out and redo everything, the least you can do is replace existing pieces with custom cabinets.
 

We should set our circadian rhythm around that of the sun - when it goes down, so should we. When it rises, again so should we! But most get to bed far too late and this will inevitably play havoc with many key hormones. It's been said a thousand times that every hour before midnight is like two hours after, so it is best to front-load your sleep before midnight.

No bathroom remodel is complete without themed decorating. Leave time to do it right.

One of the greatest things about bath resurfacing is that there is far less inconvenience and disruption than a full replacement. Instead of 2-3 weeks, reglazing tub refinishing can usually be fully completed in no more than 2-3 days. Even better, using what you already have is much more environmentally friendly. Your bathtub's life is extended by another 10-15 years without ending up in a landfill.

The next step is to cover the area where tub refinishing will not be applied. Those areas have to be covered with paper tape. Exercise caution when you are covering those areas with tape. Ensuring a good seal is of cardinal importance. After you have sealed up the rest of the area apply base coat to the tub. During this process ventilation is of utmost importance and should be ensured. Putting on your respirators is also a good idea if you have one. Go through the directions of the manufacturers and mix the primer's component accordingly. Spray it on the tub with the help of a spray gun or a similar device.

Start with the walls: I just finished refinishing the walls of our Airstream Landyacht with a wonderful product that is trowelled on and sticks to anything. It is called Lustrestone. It brings drab to its knees with a shimmery, yet stoney look; and can be done any number of color combinations. After removing the window cornices and patching any holes, a few coats and it's better than new. The bath tub restoration walls were done with a different color of Lustrestone, then stencilled with a bamboo trellis. The challenge was to work with the uneven angles of a motorhome. The bedroom walls were done in a faux lepoard skin which has transformed it into a lush, cozy room, and separate from the rest.

An old bathtub is a killer! If it is still operational but grungy and chipped, consider a re-glazing. Hire a professional to do this, because it is difficult. Re-glazing is much less expensive than a whole new tub. And, if you buy a new faucet unit, you immediately give the impression of a brand new unit.
